How and why did you come to be involved with Taitokerau Education Trust?
My name as a potential trustee was put forward to the trust by a Northpower board member.
What is your role or relationship with the trust?
I am a trustee. My role is to organise, monitor and help interpret the research programme.
Are there any particular highlights or achievements of the trust that stand out to you?
Two things stand out; Firstly our ability to fund the professional development that is critical to the pedagogical change needed for the programme to succeed and, secondly, having independent research validating the substantial increase in children’s achievement when in the programme.
What would you say to parents who are considering enrolling their child in the Digital Immersion Programme?
The research evidence is clear that children achieve more in the programme than those not involved.
Why do you think the programme is so successful?
The emphasis put on pedagogical change is fundamental to the success of the programme. This is much more important than the provision of chrome books.
