Mike Preece enjoyed a dynamic 20+ yr career in the entertainment industry before migrating from London to N.Z. in 2004. Mike held executive positions for 20th Century Fox, PolyGram, and Universal Pictures with a major remit to grow International film revenues via global licensing, sales and distribution. More recently and within N.Z. Mike has been an advisor/mentor for business accelerators Ice House and Lightning Lab and has geared his time more towards digital technology and education.
In a consultative capacity Mike worked with Crown Fibre Holdings, Northpower Fibre, Northland Inc and Whangarei District Council to assist with the UFB roll-out to Whangarei, creating NZ’s first digitally enabled city. Mike is currently the chairman of Northland Youth Development Trust and a trustee of Far North Sustainable Communities Trust. He also works with The Springboard Trust in mentoring school principals with their strategic planning.
Tomorrow’s entrepreneurs will be tech-savvy, code-literate and globally connected. It is up to us to provide the digital infrastructure and education to enable not only their success but also the future-proofing of economic growth for Northland.
